Former APC governorship aspirant in Abia, others drum support for Atiku and Ikpeazu.

The Eastern People’s Front, a sociopolitical group of Igbo elites who believe in Igbo development and recognition in Nigeria politics yesterday, visited the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at government house Umuahia.

The group which was led by Chief Enechebe and the her National Secretary, Dr. Chris Akomas (A former Abia State APC governorship aspirant ) met with the Deputy Governor of Abia state, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu who represented the executive governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at the event.

The group expressed their disappointment at the high level marginalization of the Igbos by the APC led government at the Federal level. The group made it clear that they would support any candidate who has the interest of the Igbos at heart and stated that the former Vice president of the country, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar fits into the bill as he has demonstrated his willingness to restructure the country to give the Igbos their rightful place in the affairs of the country if and when elected.

They also said that by his choice of Mr Peter Obi as his running mate, Alhaji Abubakar has all but confirmed his love for the Igbos. The group also used the opportunity to commend the government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for promoting made in Aba products which has in turn given the entire South East something to cheer about. The Enyimba Economic City which is seen as the window to modern nations also got the approval of the group as they promised to align with Abians for the reelection of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu come 2019.

In his response, the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who spoke through his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu welcomed and thanked the group for identifying and appreciating the good efforts of the State government towards building a better Abia and Nigeria at large.

Top government officials were present during the visit.
